The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Old Testament of the Bible, written by Joshua himself, except for certain passages concerning his death. It recounts the conquest of Canaan by the Israelites under Joshua’s leadership, fulfilling God’s promises to the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The book emphasizes God’s faithfulness and the Israelites’ obedience to His commandments, culminating in the division of the land among the twelve tribes. Joshua’s name means “Yahweh saves,” and it is believed to correspond to the name of Jesus in the New Testament.
